To be honest, I didn’t look very hard, but I could not find glass beads shaped like the ones in the book.
I went with what I already had, and I just happened to have some of these vessel pendant pods left over from when I was making tesseract fan art jewelry from The Avengers. These are from Found Objects by Bead Landing, and I got them at Michaels. Yes the bead caps are different metal tones, but that’s okay, it makes the centerpiece more visually important. And since I am using fewer, and different style vessels, I thought that made sense.
The chain I had, and…
I also had peridot chips from an old polymer clay project. I thought I had amethyst chips, but I didn’t find them. I did find the peridots and some turquoise. I decided against mixing them because the chips are so small, I felt it wouldn’t have the same effect as the piece in the book. By keeping the vessels containing one color, I think it works, and it looks pretty cool.
I think for this to really serve as a “memory” necklace, you have to have been collecting little bits for a while, and curating your collection of tiny things so that each glass vessel holds a special trip or person for you. Now that could be cool, but it takes a lot of planning.
