I began the process for this project a few months ago.

I began by making polymer clay molds of some original nautical images. I know the design in the book calls for floral designs, but I needed to work with something that I knew I would be able to draw without having to rely on an eraser, so that means jellies and octopuses (no surprise there!)
I’ve never been particularly good at “take away” sculpting- ie carving. Unlike Michelangelo, I do not have to ability to take away whats not needed and leave behind an angel. I’m a buildy-uppy, add to it kind of sculptor.
After I molded my coins, I did have to add a bit to these designs using metal clay paste.
Copper chain and wire wrapped crystals finished this piece off.
